Acer C720P Chromebook brings affordable touchscreen goodness to Google’s Chrome OS

Google’s Chromebook Pixel is a beautiful slab of tech and its rock-solid design and gorgeous pixel-saturated touchscreen blew both our hands and eyes away in our review. 

Sadly, its huge US$1300 price tag also blew our wallets away, and there’s no way we could justify ever shattering our bank balance for what it offers.

Enter Acer’s newly revealed C720p – the second Chromebook after the Pixel to offer a touchscreen, and it only costs US$300.

For your money, you’ll get an 11.6in 1366×768 touchscreen display along with a 32GB SSD (cloud storage is all the rage, don’t you know), 2GB of RAM and up to 7.5 hours of battery life.

Chrome OS will be powered by an Intel Celeron 2955U Haswell processor and there’s also a webcam, USB 2.0/3.0 ports and a HDMI-out port.

100GB of Google Drive space is also thrown in for good measure, though it’ll expire after two years, and it shouldn’t dig into your shoulders lugging it around town, thanks to its 1.3kg weight.
