Apple’s new iPad 3 has 1GB RAM

Apple has given the new iPad a boost in the RAM department on top of its A5X chip

When we got our hands on the new iPad last night, it ran silky smooth. Party because of the new A5X chip’s graphics grunt – but also, apparently, because Apple has boosted its flagship slate’s RAM to 1GB.

The Verge’s sources claim that Apple has joined the spec race in a very out of character move. We’ll be giving the new iPad a full workout at Stuff towers very soon – so we’ll find out just how much of a performance boost that 1GB of RAM has given Apple’s new tablet.
