Acer C720 Chromebook gets an Intel Core i3 power up

Acer shows off the world's 'most powerful' Chromebook at its New York City launch

Chromebooks are low-cost, low-power, right? Maybe not in 2014.

We don’t know the price yet but Stuff’s favourite Chromebook, the £200 Acer C720, will be launching with an Intel Core i3 model this year.

The light, durable (if not particularly pretty) chassis will remain the same but no more specs have been confirmed as yet. What Acer is claiming is that this new Core-powered C720 will be the ‘most powerful’ Chromebook on the market. Although the Chromebook Pixel might have a thing or two to say about that.

Right now the C720 comes in both touch and non-touch options with a 11.6in display, 16GB built-in storage and all important ports like a HDMI port and SD card reader.

We’ll be adding hands on first impressions from Acer’s ‘A Touch More Connected’ launch event very soon.
