Samsung reveals platinum and 18K rose gold Gear S2 Classic editions
They’ll play nice with your iPhone too
Huawei’s not the only company that’s re-skinned an existing smartwatch range with precious metals here at CES.
Samsung has unveiled two new versions of its Gear S2 Classic smartwatch – one with an 18K rose gold casing and white strap, and the other with a platinum casing and black leather strap.
As with the Swarovski-covered Huawei Jewel Watch, both new Gear S2 Classic models remain exactly the same on the inside as the regular model, with a Samsung’s own Tizen OS once again running the show.
The rotating bezel dial also remains, and we can only presume it’ll be as satisfyingly clicky and fun to play around with as the ones we’ve spun around so far.
Samsung Pay for all Gear S2 smartwatches will arrive in the US later this year too, along with iOS compatibility to tempt iPhone users away from Apple’s own clever timepiece.
Sadly there’s no price or release date as of yet, but given the materials on offer, you’ll probably need a fair amount of breathing space in your wallet come launch day.
