Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 invades the London Eye
We go for a spin with the big wheel's new tourist friendly tablet set-up
After playing it safe for eleven years – with the odd dining pod and garden pod thrown in – the London Eye has shacked up with Samsung to deck out the big wheel with Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablets.
If tour guides – with their dad jokes and singalongs – make you want to weep, you’ll be glad to see that you can get your tourist fix without any human interaction whatsoever as you prod and swipe your way around 360 degree images of the capital. Flit to the night view to see what pretty lights you’re missing and choose from five languages if you want to ramp your cultural learning up to difficult mode.
We got to nosey around the bar at the top of the Gherkin and mull about outside 10 Downing Street since a handful of the 44 London attractions with blurbs have a ‘Look Inside’ button. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 “interactive experience” is still very much a work in progress – the cameras are still rolling around the inside of the Houses of Parliament.
Just don’t try to pick up the Galaxy Tabs and wield them at the London skyline – there’s no AR fun as yet but we wouldn’t be too surprised if Sammy was beavering away at getting a decent app together. The new gadgetry is installed in the EDF Energy London Eye now – go and see for yourself.
