Promoted: Alcatel Onetouch Idol 3 – the smartphone with a thrilling twist
The Alcatel Onetouch Idol 3 is a top-spec smartphone that works upside down – even in a stunt plane...
Stunt planes are pretty similar to normal planes, except they have a unique twist: they work upside down. They do that through some aerodynamic magic, with wings designed to produce lift no matter which way up the plane is.
If the Alcatel Onetouch Idol 3 was an aeroplane, it would be a stunt plane. The Idol 3 can do everything that more expensive smartphones can, and it has a unique twist: it will work upside down. It does that by having a microphone and powerful JBL stereo speakers at either end, along with some technical wizardry that means it always knows which way up is.
How best to demonstrate that feature? Well, how about taking the Idol 3 for an extreme flight in a stunt plane? Great idea! So that’s what we did – just watch the video to see what happened.
Either way up
The Alcatel Onetouch Idol 3’s ability to work upside down also helps in a variety of more down-to-earth situations: think of all those times you’ve pulled your phone out of your pocket when it rings, and wasted loads of time trying to work out which way up to hold it. With the Alcatel Onetouch Idol 3, it doesn’t matter. Hold it either way up, answer it and off you go.
If you have an Alcatel Smartwatch, you can pair the two devices and access email notifications, texts and more on your wrist. The Alcatel Smartwatch also has a heart rate monitor, which is great for checking out your fitness – or finding out how scary a stunt plane flight is (hint: very).
No flight of fancy
Whether it’s the 4.7 or 5.5-inch model, the Alcatel Onetouch Idol 3 is worth checking out for more than just its ability to work upside down: it offers similar tech to the big name models, at a far more affordable cost.
The stunning 5.5-inch model runs Android 5.1 Lollipop and is powered by a 64-bit, 8-core Qualcomm SnapDragon 615 Octa Core processor, with 2GB of RAM. It features a full HD screen, a 13 megapixel rear-facing camera, and an eight megapixel front-facing camera.
Even with all that tech, the phone only weighs 141g and is just 7.4mm thick. Oh, and don’t forget those mighty JBL stereo speakers – perfect for pumping out music in noisy places. Such as in a stunt plane…
