Olympus SP-600UZ and 800UZ big zoom bridge cameras

Bridge cameras can be the perfect choice if you’re looking for a camera with a zoom and more manual controls.

Olympus has just released two such bridge cameras – the SP-600UZ and the 800UZ, both available next month.

Both feature dual image stabilisation and AF tracking to keep moving objects in sharp focus. On top of that, there’s a panorama mode will let you put together a panoramic shot 130 degrees wide.

There are some quirky filters to play with too – take your pick from Pin Hole, Pop Art, Fish Eye and Sketch. You can even apply them to movies too.

The less expensive 600UZ will set you back £260, has 1GB of internal memory, a 2.7in LCD screen, 12MP sensor and 15x optical zoom.

The pricier £370 800UZ has 2GB of internal memory, a perfect-for-peeping-toms 30x optical zoom, and a 3in LCD screen.
