As we’ve so often seen with new camera announcements, Nikon has had trouble keeping its latest release under wraps. Now just as expected, the camera manufacturer has officially outed the newest addition to its DSLR family in the shape of the D5000, a 12.3-megapixel snapper aimed at amateur photogs.
The newbie to the Nikon fold has inherited a number of features previously reserved for higher-end models, including the D90’s HD movie capability and in-camera editing features.
However, one of the features that stands out on the model is the 2.7-inch Vari-angle LCD monitor. It might look a bit odd, but it will help you to get your snaps no matter what angle you’re shooting from. Definitely a plus point for the gigs when you’re holding your camera above your head.
Other specs you can expect from the D5000 include one-button Live View, 19 different scene modes, HDMI output and an 11-point AF system. You’ll also get GPS-compatibility with Nikon’s GP-1 unit for those of you keen on geotagging your snaps.
