Nvidia Tegra powered cars are coming
The quad-core power of Tegra 3 is in tablets and phones – and will even be making its way to your motor
The Nvidia Tegra 3 processor has been titillating our tech-sense with its quad-core super powers since we played with the Asus Transformer Prime. And now we learn the Tegra 3 will soon be powering our cars, too.
Nvidia’s Tegra 3 has already been linked with tablets and a few mobiles including the fabled HTC Edge, and now the processor giant has just bought a research building in China where it will be working on automotive electronics, according to Digitimes.
The exciting part isn’t just that Audi and Tesla are signed up to have Nvidia powering their cars, but that Foxconn (Apple’s famed manufacturer) is also involved.
Could we be seeing Apple iTV in our cars in the near future? As devices become more personalised to the user, it’s a very real possibility that car settings could be automated as your motor recognises your mobile phone entering the car. Or with Nvidia’s powers your car may even use facial recognition to start the engine. Welcome to the exciting age of futuristic cars.
