Google Nexus 7 has an easy-to-replace battery
Teardown of Google’s new tablet suggests replacing the power source is much easier than on the new iPad
iFixit, the website that likes to get its hands on every new tech product and then take it to pieces, has posted its views concerning the Google Nexus 7. And there are some interesting pearls to pick out from amongst the jargon.
The teardown revealed the Nexus 7 to be much easier to open up than the new iPad, despite being only a millimetre thicker – and that makes it easier to service (if you’re the sort of person who’d rather tinker with their tablet than entrust it to a qualified professional for repair).
It was also discovered that the Nexus 7 has a 4326mAh battery. Despite being slightly less powerful than the Kindle Fire’s 4400mAh battery, it delivers 9 hours and 49 minutes of use, as opposed to the Fire’s 7 hours and 42 minutes. Also, the battery wasn’t soldered to the frame – it was fixed with adhesive, making it much easier to remove and replace. You won’t even need a screwdriver to do it.
