Fully Charged: Marshmallow beta for BlackBerry Priv, and HP teases thinnest laptop
Catch up on the morning's top tech news tidbits
Marshmallow beta for BlackBerry Priv
The Android-powered BlackBerry Priv currently rounds out our list of the best smartphones in the world right now, but it doesn’t sound like it was exactly a sales sensation: just 600,000 units have sold since the release, with BlackBerry’s projections aiming for 800,000.
But if you’ve got the Priv and don’t mind being a guinea pig, you can sign up for the beta program for Android 6.0 Marshmallow on the device. BlackBerry opened up sign-ups for the program, and it’s already full up – but there’s a waiting list if you still want to give it a shot. Testing could take between four and eight weeks, at which point a final version should be released for everyone.

HP teases ultra-thin laptop
HP is slated to announce a new laptop later today, and it could be the thinnest on the market, suggests The Wall Street Journal. In an interview, HP’s Ron Coughlin, president of HP’s personal systems group, takes a shot at market leader Apple: "For years, Apple has been seen as the innovator and driver of innovation,"he said. "HP is really taking over that mantle."
The company will reveal the new laptop at an event called the International Luxury Conference in Versailles, so whatever it ends up being, it probably won’t be cheap.
