BT TV is now EE TV: Here’s everything you need to know

EE is also launching a new platform where you can buy third-party services, and its 1.6Gbps broadband service is now available.

EE TV's new devices

BT TV has been a top Sky alternative streaming device over recent years. The subscription enables you to watch live TV via Freeview, BT Sport (now TNT Sports) content, and all your other streaming content. The platform is now rebranding to EE TV alongside other former BT services for consumers. Here’s why it’s happening and what more is on offer from EE TV.

What’s new with EE TV?

The existing BT TV service has now been rebranded to EE TV. Nothing you love about the streaming platform is going, it’s simply under a new name. To watch, you’ll need to make sure you’re an EE broadband customer. You’ll still be able to watch the content you love – be it live telly, BT Sports, or your other favourite streaming apps.

An exciting new change is that you’ll be able to access an EE TV app from the Apple TV 4K. This options will give you access to live TV, with a bespoke guide to watch live shows. It means you can opt for the hardware you want, while still accessing the same content. But you can also use an EE set-top-box where the Apple TV app will now be available.

There’ll also be a new EE TV Box Pro set-top-box you can get your mits on. The headline feature on this new box is that it supports multi-room playback, meaning you can watch content across your whole home.

What else is changing?

EE also now enables you to buy third-party services, backed up by a new EE ID system. The platform will offer access to traditional networking gear to buy, as well as other products from the EE Consumer Electronics Shop. Other services such as insurance will also be on offer. These will be offered by third parties, but you can manage everything via your EE account. In the future, the brand will add more subscriptions and services.

EE has a new 1.6Gbps broadband service, too. The service runs slightly higher at 1.8Gbps, to ensure that you’ll get the 1.6Gbps connection when it reaches your home. Alongside this, EE is offering a new router, too.
