BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 update sets the controls for February 21
RIM's hungry PlayBook will be fed its long-awaited OS update within a week
Those of you who’ve been patiently waiting for an update to the BlackBerry PlayBook’s OS since its release last April can begin to relax as n4bb‘s sources have revealed a February 21 release date for the update.
The long-awaited PlayBook OS 2.0 will finally bring native email, calendar and contact applications to the PlayBook, meaning that BlackBerry phones won’t have to be connected to the tablet for these features to work. BlackBerry Messenger still won’t have native app support however, so you can’t escape from tethering completely just yet.
In the meantime we’re still keeping an eye out for any scraps of information on the BlackBerry PlayBook 2, which RIM is reportedly working on along with the first BBX OS phones, due later this year.
