BBC iPlayer and ITV Player coming to Sky Anytime+
Auntie Beeb's video on demand service is finally coming to Sky
Doctor Who fans rejoice, Sky has finally announced that the BBC iPlayer and ITV Player will be arriving on its video on demand service, Sky Anytime+.
The iPlayer and ITV Player have been conspicuous by their absence from the satellite broadcaster’s VoD platform. Late last year, though, the BBC Trust announced that it was relaxing the rules on BBC programming appearing on video on demand services other than the iPlayer – allowing other broadcasters to feature BBC VoD programming without the iPlayer’s pink and black branding.
Stuff.tv has been told by Sky that iPlayer on Anytime+ will be “a BBC iPlayer branded experience – which the BBC will editorially control – which will sit within the Anytime+ service and menus.”
Now that the iPlayer’s finally making its way to Sky Anytime+, Sky subscribers will be able to watch BBC shows such as Top Gear and Earthflight alongside Sky’s own offerings. Hooray!
