Amazon could have a music streaming service in the works

The online shopping giant could be gunning for your ears, according to the latest rumours

Amazon is reportedly working on bringing its own music streaming service to the masses.

According to Re/code’s sources, Amazon is currently discussing the possibilities of a subscription streaming service with music labels.

One of the sources states that negotiations are being delayed by Amazon’s attempts to get a cheaper deal for the music streaming rights.

It’s unclear at this early stage whether or not Amazon’s music streaming service will be bundles into its yearly Prime subscription.

Given that Amazon recently raised the price for its Prime service from £50 to £80 a year (justified by now including Amazon Prime Instant Video), we expect Amazon is looking to sweeten the deal for Prime members by bundling in a music streaming service too.

Amazon has already offered digital downloads for the past seven years with Amazon MP3, and it already has the foundations for streaming sorted with its Cloud Player app.

There’s no word on a release date or any sort of pricing information at the moment, but we’ll keep you posted as always.
