Latest Hitman trailer shows off all the places you can’t go at launch
Locked-off locations take centre stage, but they aren't ready to play yet
The new Hitman trailer is more than a little sneaky – and not for the reasons you might think.
The stealthy stab-em-up is getting an episodic reboot in March, but a good portion of this week’s “season premiere” trailer actually focuses on the levels that won’t be arriving until April and May.
When it lands next week, you’ll be able to take chrome dome assassin Agent 47 to Paris and wander around a prologue mission, but more exotic locations will be MIA for at least a month.
It’s a shame we’ll have to wait to get to explore Sapienza and Marrakesh, as each level looks seriously sizable from the trailer.
Developer Square Enix is returning to the series’ roots, with wide open areas, multiple ways to eliminate each target, and a completely freeform structure that lets you get in and out however you like.
That should hopefully fix the issues a lot of players had with Hitman Absolution, which was far too linear compared to previous entries.
Otherwise, it looks like fans of the series will feel right at home with Agent 47’s expansive military arsenal and a wardrobe of disguises larger than Mr Benn’s costume shop.
Hopefully Paris will have enough variety to keep gamers plotting the perfect murder until the new locations arrive.
Hitman sneaks onto Xbox One, PS4 and PC next week, with DLC drops expected for April and May.
