What does an Xbox Live Gold membership grant you? Free games. Loads and loads of free games. Each and every month you’ll find a handful of gratis games to download on Xbox One, as well as a couple for Xbox 360, and they’re yours to keep so long as you keep paying for the subscription. However, there is one catch to the Games with Gold promotion: they’re only available to download for a few weeks apiece, and then you won’t find them free again. Fortunately, we’ve got you covered: these are the free Xbox Live Gold games that are available in May 2018, across both consoles. Super Mega Baseball 2 (XB1)

Super Mega Baseball 2 releases on 1 May… and you’ll be able to snag it for free on day one with a Games with Gold subscription. This cartoonish take on the bat-swinging sport builds upon the well-regarded original, and it’s yours without charge throughout May.

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate (XB1)

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate has been a recent high point for Ubisoft’s open-world historical action juggernaut, dropping you into Victorian-era London and packing the affair full of thrilling escapades. This 2015 favourite is free from 16 April until 15 May.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain (XB1)

It was free on PS4 a few months back and now it’s free on Xbox One: Konami’s latest and absolutely expansive stealth-action game takes on more of an open-world approach, and it’s plenty satisfying despite some rough edges. Snag this one from 16 May until 15 June.

Sega Vintage Collection: Streets of Rage (XB1/360)

Looking for an action-packed game from a different era? You’ll find three of them in this Streets of Rage collection, which bundles up the three old-school Sega Mega Drive brawlers in one convenient package. It’s free from 1-15 May.

Vanquish (XB1/360)

Another Sega classic, albeit from a very different era, this 2010 shooter is a cult favourite thanks to its over-the-top action and frenetic movement system. If you missed it on the Xbox 360 back when, be sure to download it on the back half of May (starting 16 May).
