Fujifilm’s Instax Share SP-3 prints old-school square snaps straight from your smartphone

Retro revival

In case you hadn’t noticed, instant cameras are making a bit of a comeback. Selfie-laden social media feeds feeds are all well and good, but companies are betting millennials still want to plaster their fridge doors with printed photos of messy house parties and family reunions. The Instax Share SP-3 SQ ($200, available from November) lets you ride that nostalgia wave with your very modern smartphone, turning any snap into a 1:1 square print. Once you’ve wirelessly connected the printer to your device, a companion app lets you select the images you want to print and add various effects. You can even search your Insta archive by hashtag, but bear in mind that a 10-pack of compatible SQ10 film will cost you £8.50, so you can’t immortalise every 10/10 brunch.

About

I'm fascinated by all things tech, but if you were going to leave me on a desert island, I'd probably ask for my Nintendo Switch, a drone, and a pair of noise-cancelling cans to block out the relentless seagull racket. When I'm not on Stuff duty you'll probably find me subscribing to too many podcasts, playing too many video games, or telling anyone who will listen that Harry Kane is never going to leave Spurs.

Areas of expertise

Video games, VR, smartwatches, headphones, smart speakers, bizarre Kickstarter campaigns
