See Michael Fassbender as Steve Jobs in the new film’s first teaser
Here's our first look at Steve Jobs, or, "the one that's surely better than Kutcher's flick"
There’s another Steve Jobs biopic coming out soon, and it has an array of huge talent on both sides of the camera. The first teaser aired overnight during the Mad Men finale in the States, and you can see it below.
Michael Fassbender takes the title role in Steve Jobs, and unlike the tepid Jobs starring Ashton Kutcher, the focus here is much less on nailing the exact look of the iconic Apple co-founder. And that’s not all: the film also won’t be a comprehensive overview of his life or even career.
As we’ve found out in recent months, Steve Jobs instead focuses on three big product launches that Jobs had an integral part in: the Macintosh in 1984, the NeXT Computer in 1988, and finally the iMac in 1998. Flashbacks will reportedly fill in some gaps, but otherwise, these key moments are supposed to shine on a light on the late tech giant’s personality and impact.
Fassbender doesn’t strongly look the part, but he’s an acclaimed actor, and it’s a role that demands a commanding performance. Joining him onscreen are Seth Rogen as fellow co-founder Steve Wozniak, Kate Winslet as Apple employee Joanna Hoffman, and Jeff Daniels as former Apple CEO John Sculley, among others.
Aaron Sorkin (The Social Network) wrote the screenplay based on Walter Isaacson’s Steve Jobs biography, and Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionare) directs. It’s due out on 9 October after months of uncertainty about the starring role and whether it would even be made.
While the teaser doesn’t show a lot, it hints at some fiery performances. Hopefully this Jobs flick will be a lot better than the last one – but that shouldn’t be difficult at all. Either way, you’ll be able to decide for yourself when it’s released in the UK on November 13.
