Audio Pro Allroom review

Available in a range of Starburst–like colours (that’s Opal Fruits, oldster), the Allroom system offers compact audio performance

The Audio Pro Allroom package is an attempt to combine compact and colourful looks with the sort of sonic performance you’d expect from speakers that look like they’ve been vigorously beaten with the ugly stick.

Fruity flavours

Despite its compact size, the Audio Pro system boasts 150w of power allied to a 6.5in long-throw driver and a down-firing reflex port. It isn’t the heftiest in terms of sheer weight or power, but it’s pretty articulate and integrates with the satellites fairly well.

Not ones to blend in, these little show-offs come in a range of fruity flavours – apple, cherry, lemon, grape and orange and – as well more regular red, silver, white and black finishes.

The centre speaker is provided with a small, tray-like stand, so you can sit the speaker on its side. The sub is also fairly compact and won’t dominate your living room.

Action movie fan

The Allroom’s performance is smooth, cohesive and realistic. Tested with a high-octane action movie, it responded with a cool, calm and largely revealing presentation. The overall tonal balance is convincing, and the sats deliver a pretty open midrange for their comparatively small size.

The only drawback is that they can’t summon the dynamic sweep of their best rivals. The Allroom Package is marginally restrained in its presentation, robbing soundtracks of some excitement.  Yes, for all their look-at-me countenance, they sound a little shy.

‘Do you have that in grape?’

Of course, the Audio Pros’ compact, attractive design will win admirers, but in the end, it’s back to our mantra of ‘sound per pound’.  On that basis, Audio Pro Allroom just misses out on a fifth star.

But they are perfect for anyone who’s been looking for grape-coloured speakers. They even come complete with a pair of white gloves, if that seals the deal.
