Canon Digital IXUS 200 IS – first touchscreen IXUS compact camera
Canon has introduced a touchscreen interface to its IXUS compact camera range with the Canon Digital IXUS 200 IS. The 12.1MP Canon Digital IXUS 200 IS
The 12.1MP Canon Digital IXUS 200 IS boasts a 24mm ultra-wide angle with a 5x optical zoom. The lens marks the first time the IXUS range has featured a 24mm lens. Break out the party poppers folks.
The IXUS 200 IS’s touchscreen system lets you flip through pictures and alter shooting settings with one poke. Tap 3in widescreen on the face you want to focus on and the IXUS 200 IS will track them.
The touchscreen works with traditional camera controls and there’s scene detection tech that will adjust the settings depending on the conditions around you. Perfect for you lazy snappers.
With Samsung set to launch its tap and touch dual touchscreen cameras next week, it seems more and more compacts are about to get touchy.
Canon’s also announced the Canon Digital IXUS 120 IS, the slimmest ever wide-angle IXUS. It packs a 28mm wide angle lens, 4x zoom and 12.1MP.
Both cameras will also record 720p HD video too and come with free membership of Canon’s online photo sharing service, Canon Image Gateway.
The two compacts are out in early September. The Canon Digital IXUS 200 IS will set you back £329 while the Canon Digital IXUS 120 IS is marginally cheaper at £299.
