Halo 5: Guardians release date revealed
Master Chief returns for his fifth adventure, exclusively on Xbox One, on 27 October
It’s only been 875 days since Halo 4 was released, but who’s counting? We’re certainly not. *twitch*
If you’ve got an itchy trigger finger like us, you’ll be glad to hear that gamers have got just over 200 days until the newest instalment in the incredibly popular shooter series hits shelves.
Microsoft has announced that Halo 5: Guardians will be released this autumn on 27 October, just in time to sort out your Master Chief outfit for halloween.
The new trailer shows Master Chief in a war torn version of one of the colony worlds, questioning the actions of the series’ newest protagonist Spartan Locke.
A second trailer shows off a role reversal and Locke seems to have the upper hand, but with a new tagline of ‘the truth is never what it seems’. So, which one can we trust? We’ll just have to wait and see.
For those of you who can’t wait and want to keep the memories of all your previous Halo adventures fresh in your mind, Halo: The Master Chief Collection has already been released for Xbox One. It contains all of the campaign missions from the first four editions of Halo, as well as a chance to try out a Halo 5: Guardians multiplayer beta so you can test out the new generation of Halo Multiplayer.
We’ve already jumped into the beta’s Breakout mode – a stressful four vs four affair where you only have one life – and we were hooked from the get-go.
Microsoft is counting on Master Chief and company shifting tonnes of Xbox One units when release day comes, and if past numbers are anything to go by, Halo 5: Guardians will be the console’s biggest success this year.
