YouView internet TV launches next week
We’ve had our invite to an event that could see smart TV take a giant leap forward
YouView, the Freeview box-styled internet TV player, has been in the works since 2010 and may finally launch on Wednesday, July 4th.
Below is our invite, received this morning, to a YouView event that will likely see the unveiling of this £6m taxpayer funded project. Sure Sir Alan Sugar and CEO Richard Halton have thrown private funding at it too, but since we’ve paid some we’re expecting BBC iPlayer quality results.
YouView is a set top box that offers streaming internet TV to those without a connected console or smart TV. It’ll mean your big screen can play BBC iPlayer, Lovefilm, ITV Player, 4oD, and more. But will there be something extra? We’re hoping for Skype chats with a built-in camera, social networking with live TV, and recording internet TV to name but a few. Check back next week for the big reveal.
