Icon – Figaro AirPlay tube radio
We'd do anything to get our hands on this drool-inducing hybrid of old school tech and modern design
I don’t know what I’m looking at, but I want it. Now.
Join the queue. Designer Morten Gronning Nielsen can take all the credit for this stunning Figaro tube radio concept – which radiates so much style, it actually hurts our eyes if we stare at it too long.
Is that an Arc reactor?
You mean the fictional nuclear power source embedded in Tony Stark’s chest? No. No it’s not. What you’re looking at there is an old school tube amplifier, which means that any tunes blasting out of those pyramidical speakers (via AirPlay, naturally) should destroy solid state amps in both warmth and quality.
I keep throwing my money at the screen, but nothing’s happening.
That’s because this is sadly just a concept for now, but we’re crossing everything we can that Mr Nielsen’s stunning design gets produced by someone in the near future. Also, online shopping – you’re doing it wrong.
