Office Cat wonders how many of Facebook’s billion users are his future friends while sorting through the news slush pile
Facebook has one billion users
Areas of life where Office Cat and Mark Zuckerberg differ: privacy settings, vegetarianism, favourite quotes, bank balance and opinion of what makes an acceptable social media mugshot. But he doffs his cap to the social media magnate on this occasion – Zuck’s chalked up a billion active users on Facebook. In his victory post, the goofy tycoon honours “the humanity of the people we serve.” Cats snubbed. Again. Tsk.

Office Cat thinks Libratone’s new Zipp AirPlay speaker is a pretty nifty looking piece of kit, but he’ll eat his mittens if it’s as tasty as the similarly-fashioned cake he was delivered the other day. Mind you, all that marzipan does muffle the sound a bit.
Pogoplug personal cloud launches in the UK
You can’t own a cloud, at least that’s Office Cat’s interpretation of property law. You can, however, now rent one from Pogoplug for a penny under twenty quid a year, which nets you 100GB of Amazon Glacier cloud storage plus local networked archiving on a Pogoplug cloud accelerator. And no, Office Cat has no idea whether you can own a glacier.

TomTom Navigation for Android
Good news for TomTom: that nice new Android app it was showing off at IFA has arrived at its destination, the Google Play Store. You can pick up the UK/Ireland package for just over £30, but Office Cat recommends you splash out the extra tenner for Western Europe and kiss goodbye to downloading maps on roaming data. Call it a money-back guarantee, eh?

Remote control cushion
In practical terms, Office Cat puts this remote control pillow right up there with the chocolate teapot. He’ll concede it’s much harder to lose a cushion down the back of the sofa than a standard remote, but there the benefits end. It does look pretty comfy, mind.
