iPhone 6c (or 5se) will apparently be as powerful as the iPhone 6s

The iPhone 6c (also apparently known as the iPhone 5se) rumour mill shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

The latest news comes courtesy of 9to5 Mac, whose source believes that the iPhone 6c will land with Apple’s A9 chip and M9 co-processor.

They’re the same slices of silicon used in Apple’s current flagships, namely the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, which means that the 6c will benefit from features such as always-on Siri activation.

According to the source, there are also iPhone 6c prototypes with the older A8 and M8 chips floating around the Apple campus, but the more powerful variant is more likely to see the light of day.

While the disappointingly low 16GB capacity is set to return, the 32GB model has reportedly been doubled to 64GB, and the early launch date during the week of 14 March has once again been mentioned.

Assuming all of this is true, Apple’s lineup by Christmas will consist of the iPhone 6c (or 5se), the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, and the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, along with the Apple Watch 2.

There’s still plenty of time for all of this information to be confirmed or disproved though, so stay tuned for more developments, as they happen.
