HTC hopes to blow you away with its new Aero flagship this autumn
The M9 could be old hat within six months of its launch
The HTC One M9 is a gorgeous handset, but it hasn’t been the success that HTC was hoping for.
Between reports of an overheating Snapdragon 810 processor, a camera which falls short of rivals like the LG G4 and Samsung Galaxy S6, and criticism of sticking to the same design, it’s failed to meet many people’s expectations.
Earlier this month, HTC CEO Cher Wang confirmed to investors that the company is working on a new flagship device which will be release towards the end of this year, although no further details were presented.
Now, reliable leaker @evleaks (Evan Blass), has briefly stepped out of retirement to reveal that the new handset – codenamed HTC Aero – will launch in Q4 (October-December) this year.
Twitter user @upleaks, who has taken over Blass’ mantle, has also suggested that the Aero will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 processor, which is expected to have any over-heating issues ironed out.
We’re a little skeptical however, as we don’t expect to see any handsets running the 820 until next year.
That’s all the info we have on the mysterious Aero for the time being, but given the leaky history of past HTC handsets, expect an influx of news over the coming months.
