Panasonic unveils new Lumix G lens
12-35mm zoom with constant F2.8 aperture added to its Micro Four Thirds line-up
Panasonic has added a new lens to its Lumix G compact system camera range. The Lumix G X Vario 12-35mm is a 12-35mm (equivalent to 24-70mm on a 35mm camera) standard zoom lens with a constant F2.8 aperture, making it a high end replacement for the basic kit lens.
The wide F2.8 aperture lets in more light than a cheaper zoom, so you can shoot in darker conditions without having to resort to the flash. It also features OIS (optical image stabilisation) to counteract the effects of your less-than-steady hands.
Like we said, it’s a high end lens – and thus will set you back a fair old sum when it arrives (it’s expected in late August): we’ve heard rumours of a £999 price tag, but we’ll let you know when it’s confirmed.
