Director Edgar Wright departs Marvel’s Ant-Man film
Shaun of the Dead and Scott Pilgrim vs. The World director Edgar Wright had been attached to Marvel’s film adaptation of Ant-Man since 2006, but on Friday, Marvel Studios announced that Wright had left the project “due to differences in their vision of the film.”
Script issues are rumoured to be the culprit here. Wright and Joe Cornish (Attack the Block) penned the original script and had reportedly gone through multiple rewrites to appease Marvel’s issues with it, but the studio had its in-house writers take a crack at it and Wright was reportedly unhappy with the results.
A new director is expected to be announced soon, as Ant-Man is still slated for release on 17 July 2015, with filming planned to start soon. Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, and Evangeline Lilly are attached to star, though it’s unclear if any casting changes will come as a result of the late production shake-up.

Star Wars: Attack Squadrons game canceled
Back in December, Disney announced that it was well into development on Star Wars: Attack Squadrons, a free-to-play space combat game that supported up to 16 players in free for all and team-based dogfights. Attack Squadrons seemed to be a throwback to the classic LucasArts combat sims on PC, and the game entered closed beta testing in January in advance of an eventual public launch.
However, after four months, the plug has apparently been pulled for good. According to an update on the game’s official Facebook page, Disney “decided to cease development so that [it] can focus on other Star Wars game experiences.”
Electronic Arts is working with Disney on two new Star Wars games—a new Battlefront entry from DICE, along with another to-be-revealed title from Visceral Games—but for those who like their Star Wars action experienced solely through a cockpit, this will surely come as disappointing news.

Xbox One controller gaining PC support soon
For those of us who have welcomed one or more Xbox One controllers into our homes over the past several months, it’s been a bit frustrating to not be able to use the great gamepads with PC games as well. Luckily, that appears likely to change shortly, according to one of Microsoft’s biggest public faces.
In response to a question on the topic on the popular NeoGAF message board, Microsoft’s Larry “Major Nelson” Hyrb noted that PC support for Xbox One gamepads is due “Soon. Very soon.” No elaboration beyond that, unfortunately, but at least the company seems keen on getting it done and making it known that the enhancement is on the horizon.
