Logitech Gamepad turns the iPhone 5s into a portable gaming powerhouse
Logitech's leaked iPhone gamepad could be the answer to iOS' touchscreen gaming woes
Famous Twitter tech whistleblower @evleaks (who’s usually bang on the money) has revealed a new iPhone 5s game controller case made by Logitech.
The controller comes complete with a D-pad, Xbox controller-inspired ABXY buttons and left and right shoulder buttons.
It looks like it’ll add quite a bit of heft to Apple’s sleek iDevice and definitely isn’t the sort of thing you’d want to leave on, unless you’re happy bringing cargo pants back into fashion.
iOS 7 – which made its debut on the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c – supports game controller APIs, meaning we could see an influx of controller cases over the next few months, hopefully giving us lots of ‘proper’ smartphone games to look forward to.
Angry Birds, Fruit Ninja and Temple Run are all fine by us, but for something more complex like an FPS, touchscreen controls just don’t cut it for us. Bring on the headshots.
There’s no extra information available at the moment and we don’t know whether or not any other iPhone models will be supported at launch, so we’ll just have to sit tight and wait for Logitech’s official announcement.
